Description: In this workshop, participants will learn about workplace sexual harassment: what it is, who is at highest risk, why it exists, where it can happen, how to prevent it from happening, and how to deal with it when does happen at work. Legal requirements and the rights and responsibilities of employers and employees will be reviewed and resources will be shared. Like First Aid, training, prevention, and response can help create safer workplaces for everyone. 

Facilitator: Laura K. Bird has a background in the arts, education, and not-for-profit sectors. She has designed and run programs for people of all ages, including children and seniors. She is the project manager of the SHIFT Project PEI, an initiative of the PEI Human Rights Commission.

SHIFT aims to provide education, awareness and resources to prevent sexual harassment in the workplace.

A graduate of the University of British Columbia, Laura lived in southern Ontario and British Columbia before moving with her family to Prince Edward Island in 2010. She lives in Charlottetown.
