Description:
Study Abroad Canada (SAC) is located at 223 Queen St. in Charlottetown. Since 1994, SAC has been dedicated to helping clients from around the world achieve their educational goals. SAC has partnerships with some of the highest ranking colleges and universities in Canada and agreements with numerous foreign universities. SAC is a founding member of Languages Canada and has delivered language training to new Canadians under both federal and provincial contracts. SAC is PEI’s only designated test center for CELPIP. SAC also delivers language training to short and long term international students and provides customized training to special groups focusing on a wide range of topics including language and culture, employment skills, entrepreneurship, and test preparation.
This session focuses on how newcomers seeking employment in PEI can bridge the divide between knowing about Canadian culture and living the Canadian culture. Attendees will explore the following questions:
· How can I both be confident in who I am and yet 'fit in' to my new home country?
· How important is it to raise my cultural fluency to the level of my language fluency?
· As a newcomer, what strategies can I use to increase my chances of getting employed and thriving in the Canadian workplace
