Connect to Learn: PEI Employment Standards

PEI Connectors clients are invited to participate in an in-person Connect to Learn Session!

The session will present an overview of the PEI Employment Standards Act with a discussion about many of its standards that would be of interest to employers and employees. It's important to understand employment standards and to know where to go when you need help or advice. 

By the end of the presentation, participants will have a clearer understanding of how the Act applies to their roles, ensuring they are well-equipped to navigate the complexities of employment standards.

During this session, information will be presented on a variety of topics, including:

♦ Vacation Pay,
♦ Statutory Holidays,
♦ Special Leaves,
♦ Notice of Termination,
♦ Sexual Harassment,
♦ Sick pay,
♦ Overtime,
♦ Reporting Pay and other areas of concern. 

This is an excellent opportunity for new employers or employees to become familiar with the legislation governing the non-unionized workforce. 

Facilitator - Robert Yeo, Chief Employment Standards Officer, Workforce, Advanced Learning and Population, Labour and Industrial Relations

Robert Yeo has been working with the Employment Standards Branch in Prince Edward Island for over 19 years as the Chief Labour Standards Officer. In addition to dealing with questions from employers and employees, and investigating complaints, Robert has taught numerous sessions on Employment Standards to groups across the Island, ranging from students to employer groups, to newcomers.
